I know this is probably wacky, but has anyone put a tort pickguard on their Ric bass? I have such a weakness for these things and I used to hate 'em as a youngster! If you have one, let's see how it looks!

William:
Click on "Things People Do To Ricks" (the 51st thread herebelow), then check 'Archive Through November 27, 2002'. There you'll find a pic of a 4001 with a tort pickguard on it.

Yep, just as I figured, tort doesn't look so good on the 4003. I like the tort on a white or sunburst bass, but I don't think it would look right on my mapleglo for sure. Oh well, guess I'll just have to put one on my jazz bass!

Tort shell on a rick would be nasty. It just wouldnt work.
Tort looks great on fenders tho, a really classic look. I have a black precision, which had a boring white guard, so i changed it to tort, its so classic now!

Yep Owen, I think the overall design of a Ric just isn't meant to have a tort guard. I do like the fact that the white guard matches the bindings. It's a nice touch for sure.

yeah, expect mine, which has a black guard to match the black binding, and black parts
