Sorry to post this here but I posted in the wanted section and my thread didn't get any responses. I'm looking for a mid to late 70's 4001 in jetglo, burgandyglo or white and it doesn't have to be in perfect condition. I would prefer it to be in Canada so I can avoid border fees but if it's from the US it's ok...it will be worth the extra $$$ to finally get a rick

Here's a bit of a fixer upper in Canada that may go cheap.

You could easily sell the EMG pickups and use the funds to buy RIC pickups and a new pickguard.
Matt, if you're willing to consider a new or used bass from the states, remember that the strength of the Canadian dollar and the GST cut (takes place in July I believe), makes it more affordable than ever to bring instuments into Canada.

NOOOOO!!! why would anyone do that to a rick? WHY?!?! especialy a '74...some people should be shot! that bass is a little to messed up for my tastes and I don't really like mapleglo...I might have considered it if it wasn't modded so much. Thanks for the heads up though...people here are always so helpful

Matt - I just saw that post for the 4003 in the "For Sale" section. Once you convert currency and add taxes/brokerage fees, you're probably looking at about $1200-1300 Canadian. Or is there a specific reason you're looking for a 70's 4001?

yeah I want a 70's 4001 because they usually have thinner necks and I have small hands so I need the thinnest neck possible plus I like the "capped sound" and the pickups were not as hot...I'm just a vintage 4001 kind of guy. I'm sure a 4003 would be a good bass but I just know I would find that a 4001 is a much better bass for me.

I'd hate to see what they call major wear.

>They call that "minor wear"??????

They probably meant the wear was caused by someone under age 18, knowing ebay...
