Darn that Binding!

I've read all of these posts about how the binding digs into people's wrists when playing, never a problem for me before, maybe because all of my other Rics were vintage ones, but this brand new one wore a nice dime-sized gash in my wrist today at rehearsal. Ouch! I adjusted the strap, wore it a little higher and it was no longer a problem.
Just wanted to say, I now feel your pain!

Hmm. I've always had a few 4003s in my arsenal and I've never had any problems.

I guess I don't dig into it enough...

I've never had that problem either. It just took a little getting used to at first. When I gig or have band practice, I always wear an arm band, so I don't feel the edge, but I wear the armband with whatever bass I'm playing just because I hate sticking to the body from sweating.

I don't have a problem with the binding. I don't play in such a way that my arm or wrist gets gashed up or anything.

I usually didn't either! But for some reason, today, it affected me. Thankfully I noticed before my bass looked like Brian Crisman's MID "blood bass". Image Just took off a layer of skin.

You are truly a man's man, Brian. I can only imagine that hurt like hell. Judging from the spray pattern, you did not give up or switch to a pick. Awesome.

It took some getting used to for me when I bought my first one years ago coming from a contoured P bass.

It doesn't bother me at all - I guess I have the bass strapped on low enough that I don't contact the edge much.

The binding on my 4001 caused the purchase of my 4004 Cii .
