Of interest to Traynor YCV40 owners

When I fixed my YCV40 due to a shorted screen grid in a 5881 tube taking out a couple of resistors, I downloaded the latest schematic from the Yorkville website. I was surprised that there had been numerous changes to the circuitry listed on the schematic since the short time of the amp's introduction. Since people's opinion of the amp seem to be wildly varied, this may have something to do with it as well as the fact that it comes with low end Sovtek tubes as standard issue. After changing to decent tubes, you might want to check to see if your amp is up to the latest specs, especially if you still don't like the sound or there are any reliability issues. My amp is a later production sample, so I am OK. It sounds great and has been reliable since the repair. The breakdown was caused by a faulty tube, I believe.

This is a great amp for those using the 650 with humbuckers. The sound is between a Fender and a Marshall amp. The amp has very high gain and uses regulated heater supply for the preamp tubes, so it has very low noise relative to its high gain. If you want a Fender Deluxe Reverb on steroids, then this is your amp after you get it sorted out. You WILL have to do some sorting out unless the shop or a previous owner has done it for you, especially if it is an early sample.
