Lefty necks on Lefty basses.

When exactly did lefty necks start to appear on lefty basses.

1988 or therabouts, but remember the 4008 AZG we bid on? that was from 1982 and had a custom left-handed neck, not a righty turned over....

Thanks John, I knew it was sometime mid eighties(ish) but didn't know exactly when.

Technically, it's not the neck, but the headstock that is "lefty" or "righty."

Actually Paul, the neck blanks without the added wings are right-handed. The inlays on deluxe models are upside-down on a left-handed version, even in today's production.
