4004LK for sale

I have a line on a 4004LK that is local to me for $8500. I've emailed the seller several times and it turns out that we have some mutual friends. Apparently it is the one from Germany that was on Ebay last year. I guess he bought it thinking he could resell it for a hefty profit but that hasn't worked out so well so now he just wants to get rid of it at a slight loss (I believe it went for $8900-ish). I can go check it out and act as a "go between" if anyone is interested. If I pass on it I can also see if he wants me to just forward his info.

I am certainly interested myself but I'd have to credit card the payment since I'm a tad cash strapped at the moment and I'm trying to avoid extra debt. I have a fellow forumite waiting for me to come up with far less cash for another deal so this also wouldn't help that situation.

If someone else is willing to pony up the cash I have one already and am not THAT greedy! It's not like I'm trying to be like that guy buying every 4080 out there..... Image

That's a lot more cashish than I can justify spending on a bass, but a good deal for someone looking for one. (a "good deal" in relative terms of course...that's a lot of cabbage!)

Steve, I think it is too much as well BUT I really want a second one! If I didn't have one I'd probably ante up but having one already makes me a little less motivated. I can always figure that I paid an average of $5k each to help it not sound so bad. Image

(back and forth, back and forth, buy it, don't buy it, blah, blah, blah)

Brian... you are one of the few that received one below the list price.

Man.. $8500.00 is a lot of money for that bass..

I would not pay $8500 for a LK or any other Ric ... and it doesn't even have a low B!!!!

Horses for courses. It's a collector's item and a real investment piece. That's not to say Brian won't be playing it, but it is.

A lot of money I say...

The owner who has it now is looking to take a loss on it.

Brian, if I remember correctly, that one does not have a Certificate?

But think of it this way, Brian....if you buy it, you will have 3.3% of total production!

This is a huge chunk of change... Does anyone think that the value will increase? Or maybe it's hit it'll just be stagnant on what it is
