Another one-of-a-kind? It has black binding but it can't be a Jetglo/BT because the fretboard binding is white, and the hardware is chrome.

The older black trim basses all had chrome hardware, I had a white/black trim with chrome hardware and it was an early 80's. I don't know if early black/black 4001's had white or black trim on the necks although I've seen a few, they also had all chrome hardware. I suspect they had white trim on the necks. Did the later black/black have black trim on the necks?

Looks like it says 4001 on the TRC.

I say it was originally white, refinned black. Hence the black TRC, body binding and pickguard.

I don't know, that finish looks original to me although it's hard to tell with pictures. The only (maybe) odd thing is the white binding on the neck.

I like the way it looks. Maybe I'll go for it.
Although it looks someone else is interested in it too.. (emperor!!)

Maybe a custom order, back when it was still possible?

Bob, I don't think that white basses with black body binding, white neck binding and chrome hardware are considered BT.

I know someone who has a Jetglo 4003 with the black TRC and guard. I don't think he has the black hardware though.

Didn't the black trim option only include the plastic & the binding back in the '80's?

DOH!
I didn't read all the replies before posting.
Bob Young already covered this.
