Well, I just picked up a 1966 4005 FG and I need a little info. It's been slightly but permanently modded and I need some info on screws, pup mounting ect. I've checked out pics of other 4005's but I need more detail to find out exactly what parts to get. So, if anyone here owns a 60's 4005 and wouldn't mind sharing some information I'd really appreciate it....thanks, David

Congratulations, David.
I don't own a 4005, but I certainly wish I did.
Yeah, there are quite a lot of 4005 pictures about. Check the BunnyBass site, for instance. Also, somewhere in the Forum there were (are) some first class pictures of a 4005. Do a search and you'll find these.

Thanks Sergio, Mark A responded almost immediately to this post and has thouroughly answered all of my questions...the bass was "Modded" at some point with Bill Lawarence pups and routing did occur...although it did come with Ricky reissue toasters...the tuners have been switched out with Rick vintage style...everything else is stock and the finish is really very good with hardly any rash on the back and but a few dings and dents, and it came with the original silver/blue case...the price was right so I'm pretty happy with it. I'm finially a member of THE CHECKERBOARD CLUB!! David
ps...your A saddle is on the way to me and then I'll get it off to you...cheers

Hi

Here's a closeup of a '67 4005 bridge...

It could use a cleaning, seems to have grown a few feathers :^)

Also a few more shots in that directory.

Enjoy

Claude

Claude...thanks for the link to the bridge pic...Mine intonates pretty well but the bridge was installed backwards and the saddles moved/switched to accomodate the change...the E and G saddle screws appear to be stuck...someone also ground down the e saddle groove to accomodate the newer wider strings but did a poor job...I might fashion a new set of saddles...they look like aluminum so it shouldn't be too hard to make replacements....
Sergio...pics on the way via email
Paul....glad you could join us again...looks like we've both been workin like dogs to pay for our obsessions!!! pics also on the way to you and perphaps you or the Pickup Guruh could post one or more?
Jaime...that'd be great...I tried to contact you earlier via 4005 email at The Pit and got the letter back as undeliverable *&%$#+
Keep on Rick'n David
