And from what people say, they sound fantastic. But, of course, this is truly a collector's piece. It'd be great for recording projects.

This one looks alot like the one that R Smith did a rare bird column on years ago....
That one had the guard cut around the PU surround too.

I've been lucky enough to play three of them. Baseball bat necks, definitely. They sound great, like a good horseshoe pickup should. I'd really like to have one someday, but they don't have the same magic for me that my 68 does.

Agreed, Scott! They have a great tone & vibe but not as easily playable as late 60's models and on. Here is a 1961 FG I saw at the Dallas Show last year for an astounding $19K:
