The Pretty Things Rickenbacker

The Pretty Things', John Stax (the original bass player) played a 1964 or 1965 [Model 4001 in a Fireglo finish] for a while. It sounded great but started to resemble a bow after a while, this could have been the result of too heavy strings. John Stax's playing technique or the fact that Viv used to come off his drums most nights and beat on it with his sticks while it was being used by Bryan Pendleton on one number while John played the blues harp. Viv actually used to chase Bryan round the stage and aim for his fingers(ouch). it looked and sounded great, but just wasn't up to being pounded.
