There are different versions of the LK?!

Seems like the LK underwent the same PU variations like other 4004 and TRC changed as well!
The PU positions of the middle bass look a bit "congested", though!
Also the carving got some different finish (left one),obviously.

I think the middle one is the unique one.

The one in the middle also has a black TRC.

I guess they started out with the guitar-like pickup layout and then moved the neck pickup closer to the neck for truss rod access, and the bridge pickup backwards for a wider tonal range.

I saw a pic of a 2-pickup LK prototype. The pickups were in the usual 4004 locations IIRC.

That's a great shot Peter. Where is that photo from?

I've got to load some tools into a bag, but if you could let me know I'd appreciate it. Right, now where did I put my pry bar?

They were supposed to be basically the same but the the carver free-styled it a bit on some of them.

I'll bet copies can't be cheap, as I'm guessing they'd still all be hand carved.

I've been looking for the right 4001 to have stained and carved in a similiar fashion.

I don't know who built those but a good luthier could build something similar ... that level of building is a little beyond me ... or else I might try my hand at that ... of course mine would have 5 strings ... and of course forget trying to sell these on ebay ...
