Chris Squire ever play a Fender?

I've never seen a pic of Squire with a Jazz...Am I seeing this correctly?

I don't know about Fenders, but he is currently using a Lakland Bob Glaud model, (p-bass style), as part of his arsenal.

He's owns both a Fender Jazz and a Lakland Joe Osborne Sig. model.

Chris' website is wrong about the Joe Osborn model, it is a Bob Glaub. The JO is a Jazz Bass, whereas the BG is a P Bass, just as Squire's is.

Chris bought or otherwise acquired a '72 or '73 Jazz in '73. Saw him use it live on the Relayer tour in '74. Natural finish, black blocks and white pickguard. Also used a '74 Precision on "To Be Over" or so it is said. He used that Jazz on many tours. Saw him use it on the Going For The One tour and most recently, The Ladder tour in '00. Supposedly it is having some neck problems and is retired.

I saw the Relayer tour four times from Fall '74 through Summer '76.

"To Be Over" was played on that natural finish Jazz, also "Parallels" and "Go Through This". He also used a Fender Telecaster/early Precision on "Time And A Word" and "Sweet Dreams". The bass can be seen on the Fragile album booklet or on early promo videos (where Kaye is preteding to play it while Squire goofs with the Hammond!).
"Lucky Seven" from Fish Out Of Water also sounds like a Jazz to me.

Squire plays a lot of basses ... I think some of the tracks on the first 2 yes albums were done with a fender ... I saw Chris use a jazz bass in the 70s in concert ... and these days during a concert he plays 5 or 6 different basses ... he has several that sound better than his old 60s 4001 ... but the 4001 is the prettiest ... that weird green moundrian (sp?) is the best sounding bass of the bunch ... then his tobias sounds excellent as well ...

Not entirely...

I am fully aware that the Osborn is a J, and the Glaub is a P, but Chris' bass: It's a Glaub body with an Osborn neck, bought specifically to replace his 1973 Jazz Bass.

They went by what it says on the headstock - which is indeed "Joe Osborn".

Correct, (Didn't I tell you that?) yes - it has some neck issues, one of them being it just won't intonate anymore. The Lakland replaced it as a touring bass.

He played his Telecaster, which Steve Howe now owns. I've seen some very very early footage of them recording it!

OK, Mark, I believe you. "Time And A Word" and "Sweet Dreams" were the only songs I knew that were played on that Telecaster.

About his Thunderbird songs; in addition to "Release, Release" and "Does It Really Happen?" "Our Song" sounds a bit like a T-Bird. Did anyone see Yes playing live that song and what bass Chris use on it?
