Maybe they are looking to cash in?

A 4001CS will almost always go for premium price, $3K to $7K. Most were purchased when they were available for about $900.00 What you see are people cashing in on their investment.

Why would you pay 7000$ for a 4001CS ? This bass will soon be more expensive than the original !!!
Some people are crazy...

I'm sure everyone's hoping THEIRS will go for 7k too! I'd probably let mine go for that too. Might be able to get a very nice early 70s one and an 80s one for that cash.

It is all about the money. Of course, the V63, which is basically what the CS is, is getting up there in price too.

Yes and they are both basically 4003's with different pickups and maybe a little different neck profile. I'm amazed at the prices they're going for myself, the one that really amazes me is the Lemmy.

I think that the V63's are the real sleeper for the time being. They can still be had for well under $2K.

This will be short lived I think.

Get one while you can.

I think it's all the people who happen to see one sell for a bunch of money, they get the itch and decide to offer it up for sale. Then the ones you see later don't hit the high figure.

I was tracking Rockman amps for a while, before you didn't see them at all, when one came up it sold for $900. Then after that you saw 3 on there, then another the following week... But they didn't hit the high prices as the previous auctions.

Imagine if the senate passes a law that says EBay sales need to be listed as income on tax returns.. I think then people would shy away from EBay. I think that will be EBay's slow demise. You have people on there that are not true legit businesses but just list a bunch of stuff.

Mine would probably never fetch $7K since I actually PLAY it. But it's a lefty so it's a limited edition of a limited edition...
Paid $999 brand new in '92.

It already is. On amything that is purchased with the intentent of making a profit, that profit is taxable no matter what avenue is used for the sale.

There are a lot of business already selling on ebay and paying taxes on the income. For the most part it is State sales taxes that are avoided, and some States are pursuing the offenders.
