For those (lucky) people who have a Rickenbacker manufactured in 2006, is there an identifiying emblem or mark identifying it as their 75th anniversary?

Not that I can see.

With our backlog, we won't get to the 2006 models until late in 2007.

There was talk of this during the SoCalCon visit to the factory last August, but it hasn't come to pass yet. I think John Hall mentioned that the true 75th anniversary is October or November (IIRC). Maybe they will institute some badge at that point??? But then, maybe not. Hope we can learn something official.

So the manufacturing date does not always reflect the model year..

My 360BBR has a date of 1/06. Or am I thinking about it the wrong way?

My new 660/12 was manufactured in Feb 06 - no special marks.

John may be talking about models that are ordered in 2006 not being manufactured until 2007.

but wouldn't that make them 2007 models?

I ordered a midnight blue 350v63 about 3 months ago. It will most likely be manufactured and shipped to the dealer in '07. But if it were an amber fireglo shouldn't it be a 2006 though it will most likely be made in 2007 ?

There are still Montezuma Brown guitars being manufactured (COY '03 & '04) and the latest are '06 model years with '06 serial nubmers.

C'mon guys, I'm sure JH was just making a joke about the backlog, not making a serious statement. Any Ric made in 2006 is a 2006 guitar of course, no matter when it was ordered. I recently purchased a Muddy Waters signature Telecaster and it has a very small round "Fender 60"/diamond decal on the back of the headstock, which I assume is on all Fenders made in 2006. An unexpected and nice touch in my opinion.

What about cars? They are the opposite. 2006 models can be purchased and driven off the lot in 2005. I think whatever the manufacturer says, goes.

I believe what JH was referring to is that the orders from 2006 won't get produced until 2007. That's pretty much the standard waiting period with the backlog being as large as it is. That means Color of the Year, special edition models, etc.
As far as standard models go, it doesn't make much difference when they're produced, I believe the serial number is assigned when the work order is begun. The walnut wings & the vintage tone pot are now standard features & will be included on all relevant models regardless of order date.

I just bought a new 2006 j bass, and it doesn't have a 60th diamond decal.
