Well folks,

I am happy to tell you that my wife and I have been married for 36 years as of the date referenced above. Can you imagine? She married a struggling musician and then managed to stick it out with me all these years through thick and thin.

My wife deserves a medal. She's the best.

I have often wondered if the two Rickenbackers that I owned at the time influenced her decision. LOL

Thanks for the good wishes my friend and yep! Now my biggest struggle is getting to work every day and the funny part is, my office is just down the hall.

Speaking of work, marital bliss is something that represents a whole lot of work. It does not come easy. Any one who tells you that it is easy, must live in an alternate reality somewhere.

Having said that we would not change a thing about our lives. Every experience that does not kill you, makes you stronger.

I still wonder about the two Rickenbackers though. Image

Congrats, Brian!

You're right--nobody said it would be easy, and it is the work that makes the love. Without it, it's just infatuation.

Brian - I can't commend you and your wife enough for 36 years!!! Congratulations -- to say the least! It is not an easy feat. And the fact the you would not change anything else -- well, you have done well, my friend!

A mind boggling feat, on July 14 my wife and I will celebrate exactly 1/9 of what you and your wife have accomplished. Enjoy it... but I'm sure I don't need to tell you that! Image

HUGE congrats! Did you get married when you were 12? ;-)

I thought this thread was going to be about D-Day. But I guess it kind of is. ;-)

Thanks Howard, Paul, Mike, Noel, Bob, Sheena, Steve and Melissa for the good wishes and nice comments.

Steve, through a twist of fate (the only day our minister could perform the ceremony in June) my wife and I were married on the anniversary of what became known as "D" day. The official name of that operation was "Operation Overlord". Of course Hollywood made a movie about it called "The Longest Day" All very fitting in many ways. LOL

Interestingly enough (and no I was not 12) if you reverse the numbers of the age that you inquired about that's how old I was at the time.

We had dated for more than two years before we took the plunge. Our wedding reception was also a night to remember. My old band that had not been together for about a year, secretly ferreted all of their equipment (mine too) into the hall that was rented for the occasion. Needless to say I was dragged on stage and I put in an hour and a half set. So yes the work started on day one. I played at my own wedding. There were roughly 300 family and guests who attended. Another interesting thing happened. The hall burned down the very next night. All of our "official" wedding photos were lost in the fire.

Oh and Noel, thanks for pointing the 6,6, 06 numerical relationship for us. Interesting

Thanks Kevin and Jerry.

Re: "Wow, at 21 I still couldn't get a date!"

I have a hard time believing that Jerry. You gave me a good chuckle though. Thanks.
