Yeah I heard it about 2:30 EST. He is all over the radio now. What a shame. I didn't know that he had been in a coma since last Nov.from kidney failure.

Very sad news!

I even had his hair back in high school.

Did he give it to you or did you take it?

Now John, George, Mal and Billy have left that scene!

Alan, I took it!! It was just too cool.

Very sad news though. Billy was a great talent and very underrated IMO, both with other bands (Beatles, Stones, etc.) but also his solo work. I saw him live once, and I never missed him on the tube on "Don Kirshner's Rock Concert".

I grew my hair like his because at the time it was very cool (and that is how my hair goes naturally). You could spot me in the crowded halls at school by the bouncing 'fro.

Ahh. Times were good. Nothing more difficult to worry about than combing the grasshoppers, moths and bees out of the 'fro... "You gotta have somethin'"

RIP Billy.

Billy Preston didn't live to be an old man, but in the time he was here, he got to do it all. Played with the very best, always delivered a quality performance; you could tell he really cared about his audience.

Derek Taylor once said in some liner notes that Billy "plays and sings like the son of god".

He certainly did.

Amen. Imagine being in Hamburg touring as keyboardist with Little Richard in 1962 when you're only 16/17 years old! That's when he met the Beatles. A full life, indeed!
