If you want top quality, this is the company I run -

There's plenty of budget stuff out there too. I'll spare ya the sales pitch though!

John,
I have had my custom 4001 ATA made by A&S out of Hollywood for 4 years and it's probably the best $$$ I have spent in related gear terms. Whether moving basses over the pond or sending it here, when I have bought basses to protect from UPS/FED -EX it has been perfect.
Essential for basses that you value and are potentially irreplaceable.

Tom,
Nice cases. I love the double bass case with the black 4001/3 in it.

rock case (warwick) makes a very nice road/flight case for around $250. it fits my corvet or my 4003 ric. it's universal design would work for any bass. very well made. you can see it at dana b. goods online.

I've got a Calzone case that has held up very well for the past 20 years.
I also have the SKB Bass Safe. With the Bass Safe you first put your bass in a well padded, high quality gig bag, then you put it in the safe. I've travelled, using it many times with no problems...and it has skateboard wheels.

I'm having one custom made for my Montezuma Brown 330 that I'll be carting around the world in a couple of months. I should have it in a week or two so I'll post pics then for interest's sake.
Made out of carbon fibre material and aluminium, BTW - no plywood. Hellishly expensive, though!!
