Toaster-bucker
Is it possible to be a toaster cover on a Rickenbacker Humbucker. They appear to be the same size. The toaster is a much cooler looking pickup, but I want a little more...ooomph

Robert,
The black rectangular part of the humbucker sits flush with the top of the cover. If you put a toaster cover on it, the cover would sit on top of the black part of the humbucker, so you might have a gap between the top cover and the base of the pup. Plus you might need slightly longer screws to mount the cover to the base.
A toaster cover from a copy pickup might fit better, since they are designed to sit on the coil. If you look at a real Rick toaster, the two black poles extend through the two slots in the cover, while on fake pickups the coil is below the slits. I think the fake covers might be a little higher than the real ones because of this. (I just checked - a fake toaster cover is about 2mm taller than a Rick humbucker).
BTW, the humbuckers are great.
Good luck,
Jerry

Where could you possibly buy a fake toaster cover?? I will be replacing a toaster with a humbucker so I'd just reuse the old cover and save the toaster for later. Of course if I could just buy a cover then I could sell the toaster and recoup some of the humbucker money. Does Rickenbacker sell just the covers? I highly doubt it, but it never hurts to ask.
Thanks for the answers, now it's time to buy the pickup and warm up the soldering iron!
