Wilson Pickett Bass Tablature/Notation

Post by rob »

I've been looking a while back for tab and/or notation for Wilson Pickett, but just couldn't find much at all for what I'm looking for. I especially want to learn Funky Broadway. I do have the Jaco Pastorius instructional video that he made back in '85. He does a few bars of that song, but somehow I'm just not getting it right. So...anyone know? I'd also like to know more WP songs as well, so anything can help. Thanks.

Not sure on the Funky Broadway - but we open every set with "Midnight Hour." The intro is D-B-A-G then the key of E. It's pretty easy to pick up.

And my band often performs Pickett's Mustang Sally [written by Bonnie (Sir Mack) Rice].
I - IV - V in the key of C.
To get that low down groove feeling, play the low 5th (and 4th and 3rd) on the E string instead of going up to the 5th fret (note G) on the D string.
