Never played one. Can't really think of much use for it in the bands that I play. Are the neck profiles quite thick to take all that strain? Looks pretty though.

Necks are thiner than any other five or six-string basses. But my hands are not the same as Chris Squire's...

The neck feels the same as the 4003 I had from the same period. From the headstock, I believe the eBay one is a 4008, not a 4003S/8.

No, it is an S/5. The 4008 has a bound neck - Jared? Also, beware of this one. The neck slab seems to have separated from the body wings. Notice the two finish cracks at the body/neck junction. This is fixable but I am guessing there will be action issues until it is addressed.

Cracks like that mean the neck was seriously stressed at some point. It is fixable but the repair could also mean a refin.

If you can get it cheap it would be worth fixing. The current price is a bit too high for that much damage IMHO.

It will cost him $25 per set to properly license them.

A friend of mine had his v63 fall face-down from a guitar stand and it resulted in the exact same body wings/thru-neck separation. A well-known luthier glued it, but it delaminated again very soon after the repair.
I'd stay away from that 8-string.
And Jared... we all know what's under there... what gives?

The look of the horseshoe pickup is now a RIC trademark. Trademarks must be enforced to remain valid.
