There's a 1963 (?) 4001 at gbase.com, no pictures unfortunately, I've e-mailed the dealer and asked for photos, so far nothing. Just curiosity on my part because at this point in my life I'm lucky if I can afford new strings. I'm living in Lima temporarily and the unemployment rate here is approaching 50%, and I am included in that 50%.

Looking at the other Rickenbackers with pictures that the dealer has posted at his website (accessed through GBase), I'd say that there is a high probablility that the bass is exactly what is stated.

I,d like to see it...apart from the other 63 that has turned up on e bay recently it,s always interesting to see the pre 64 basses. The spray patterns are usually cool, and they can have individual touches to them. Of course it also gives a reference for when others surface...We all want to know it,s genuine now... With less than a couple of hundred made in this period and with very few left, it,s a rare piece...
