....that thread from awhile back, maybe 6-8 months ago, where JH was asking if any of us had one of the old METAL p/u cover/hand-rests to "borrow" for a project or something like that??.....what was THAT all about? What ever became of that?

I was just sitting here cleaning the drool off of my recently acquired 360/12CW and that thought crossed my mind for some reason....I wonder...

I think maybe there would have been new metal covers which is a nice idea.

I thought Gene Schillaci (Squirebass) was going to send one to RIC. I haven't seen Gene post in a while.

I thought it was agreed that there was no such metal covers made, and that they were chromed plastic right from the start. I've seen fakers with metal covers, but never on a real 4001.

I remember the thread. I had the impression that JH wanted to at least offer new ones as replacement but what I really think is that he wanted one to use it in the R&D of the V68 bass in order to make it more correct. You know what people would say if it came out with a plastic cover on it.

Gene has one and remembered seeing many during the early 70's in Texas. I think some of us drove JH out right about that time with a complaint session, it has been brought up sporadically since then.
