At least he admits it was stupid to paint the pickguard. And it can easily be repaired...

It is butt-ugly, however.

And he wound the strings around the machine heads wrong!

Doh!

Nothing that couldn't be reversed easily enough. Who knows? Maybe that pickguard will keep the price low.

Back to the shame issue - what drives me crazy is when I see bass players (or guitarists) do this:



To me, this is the equivalent of driving around in a really nice car with bird **** all over the hood and not bothering to wash it off. Or walking around with food on your face and not bothering to wipe it off. I could go on with the comparisons, but I'm sure you get my drift. What is UP with that? Color me nutty, but this really gets under my craw, whatever that means. I just don't get how someone could put on a set of strings and not trim the ends. It looks like they just don't care about the instrument, or just don't know how to put strings on. That would drive me crazy having string-ends dangling around all over the place while I'm playing! And I feel like throwing tomatoes at people I see PERFORM with their strings untrimmed like slobs. It not even punk-rock cool. It just looks stupid! Get you sht together, people!

OK. I'm done venting. Same time next week, Doc?

I've been playing with the same guitarist for some 16 years now, and I remember the first "change" one of us affected on the other was me making him trim the ends of his guitars' "flying points of pain" after one too many jabs in the upper arm and shoulder! He didn't change his ways until the night I didn't wear my usual black "stage-shirt". At the end of the gig that night he saw the bloody evidence of the puncture wounds I received from those loose string ends of his! That did the trick.

Lucky for me I didn't get lockjaw!

Alvaro a tetanus shot would have definitely be in order if the practice was continued... Mark I agree. The weed patch methodology of stringing is hideous. I actually trim the string to length, stick it in the little hole, and start the path of he string downward; about two to three turns about the spindle. No fuss no muss - and a beautiful looking head - unencumbered.

As bad as the bass looks the case takes the prize.

I'd snap that up in a second if I were in the market for another FL.

I recall that George Harrison used to keep his strings long so he had a place to keep his ciggies. He poked them on the end of the stings.
