Boy I can't stand these round wound factory strings. But reading past topics about strings has got me worried. I use GHS Precision Flatwound .45 .60 .75 .95 on my 4003 and now i worry about using these on my new C64S. What should I do? I don't want to experience the bridge lift!

Use what I use on my 4001V63.

D'Addario Chromes in a custom light guage set of 40-55-75-95. Take their Super Soft set and get a single .055 string to replace the .060 D string.

I actually like the TI's on my older 4001's....VERY low tension, they come to pitch real quick, but for all others.....nothing beats Chromes, imho.

Ok i called every shop in the tri-state. I wanted the .95 chromes. But the GC in Totowa only has the .45 .65 .80 .100 I guess thats not a drastic difference. But I don't want that bridge lift. And I'm also frightened of my action going high when I put these on. I do not know, or have the confidence to make a truss- rod adjustment.

I have TI jazz flats on my PMC, so far IMHO they have been really decent strings. I'm sure the chromes are fine too.

Ok the Chrome .100s worked ok. The action went up a little which is ok because there is no buzz. Boy that D string was a pain. It took a little "persuation" but I got it in and against the zero fret. Thanx guys.

I had TI JFs on my '62 Jazz Bass, very nice but the Chromes are smoother and far less costly!

I have 2 words for this topic.....Pyramid flats.

I heard pyramds are awesome, but for $80 bucks a set, i'll continue to listen and not experience.

They're $63 from Juststrings and Pick of the Ricks sells them for I think $52 but they're out of them at the moment.

Pyramids actually get better with age, from my point of view and they last forever.
