Chorus for Bass

I moved out of Jeff's thread as we were highjacking it.

Philip said:
"Hmzz I had a better result without chorus. Maybe it's because of my ****** Behringer chorus pedal :-)
If Geddy uses chorus, it's less than the amount in Jeff's recordings, but nonetheless a nice tone :-)"

I relpied:
""I had a better result without chorus. Maybe it's because of my ****** Behringer chorus pedal"

Philip - see if you can find an Ibanez chorus/flanger CF7. Nice sounding chorus and it was $60 USD. Here is the one I mean - not promoting SDM; it was the first link to one:

Philip replied:
"Thanks John. I'll have a look."

I replied:
"Philip - I bought three other brands and returned them until I hit on the Ibanez."

Bobcat asked:
"Does anyone know of a good analog chorus pedal? I haven't been impressed with any of the digital effects I've tried (other than the Digitech Bass distortion pedal, but my FullTone slaughters it)."

I replied:
"Electro-Harmonix has this one:
http://www.ehx.com/ehx2/Default.asp?q=f&f=%2FCatalog%2F14%5FModulation%2F09%5FSmall%5FClone

http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/ElectroHarmonix-Small-Clone-Analog-Chorus-Pedal?sku=153312

It is cheaper now. I tried it and didn't think there was enough low end for my 4003 and prefered the tone of the Ibanez CF7. YMMV

Then there is this one:
http://www.tcelectronic.com/SCF

http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/TC-Electronic-Stereo-Chorus-Flanger?sku=153001

Pricy but a pro piece of equipment - CS plays one. Haven't seen one locally."

Philip asked:
"John - Is the CF7 also suitable for bass?"

Christopher posted:
"Don't get the CF7, I own a CF-7 and a Boss Flanger, and the Boss is more lush-sounding..."

My reply:
The CF7 sounded much better for bass than the Boss CEB-3 Chorus, the Digitech Multi Chorus, but not the EH Small Clone - it was marginally better (a tad shy in the low registers, but it is a guitar pedal) and I didn't want to spend as much as it was at the time. Chris, I was more interested in Chorus then the Ibanez Flanger side of the pedal.

With the price of the EH now in the same range, check it out and see if it does it for you.

I have never found a chorus that I was completely happy with ... there is one built into the bass pod that is not too bad ...

The one on the Bass Pod Pro is good, in MODERATION (set on 1 or 2). Otherwise it gets "swampy".

I used to have the TC Chorus. It is a great sounding pedal except for the slightly hard mettalic tinge to the high end. The stereo on it is superb.
