Saw the Searchers on July 13th in Bayshore, N.Y, second of five dates in the New York area [with subsequent shows in Maryland, Vegas and Calif.] Just wondered if anybody on the forum caught any of the shows, and what you thought.

I understand John some dates so far not very well attended the one you went to at, YMCA Boulton Center I believe, being one.
The New York gig at Cutting Room was packed I understand and Mohegan Casino but probably kind of places that would be packed anyway.

Roy,
They cancelled the second show [9:30], and MAYBE half -filled the place for the 7 P.M show [I brought 9 people, had 1st row seats]. Boulton seats about 260. I heard that ticket sales weren't going well for the Sunday venue, either. The Mamaroneck audience was enthusiastic, but I'm not sure of the numbers - there was a horrendous rainstorm that night. Chalk up the attendance problems to the typical lack of advertising that seems to precede and follow the Searchers when they come over here.
That being said, you'd never have known they weren't playing to a sold out house at Yankee Stadium. They did an enthusiastic two hours plus, with a fifteen minute intermission. Music was phenomenal, the jokes were a hoot. Best summed up by two different friends seeing the Searchers for the first time:" Now I know why they're your favorite band!"

Hope some of you will be there at Liverpool's Empire (August 28th) when the Searchers will perform as part of the annual Beatles Week. Other 60's Liverpool acts will be there too: Swinging Blue Jeans and Terry Sylvester among them!

Einar,
Does Terry Sylvester have his own band? Does he play any of the stuff the Hollies did when he was a member?

Hi John,
I understand he operates in a duo with Joey Molland (Badfinger). I don't know what songs they perform, but should like to know! We must rely on our Liverpool friends!
Terry became a strong card within the Hollies. I have a strong liking for "Romany", from a period when he was heavily influential.

John and Einar,
While he may have done some dueting with Molland on stage when they cross paths, I don't think it is a regular thing.
In the past Terry played in a trio with John Ford Coley (who used to be in a duo with England Dan) and the late Richard Griffin of "Bread".
Here is a review of one of their shows from November 2002. It also has links to photographs from that show. BTW, while I wasn't there, a friend of mine who knows Terry was and he tells me that they were being backed up Vince Gill's band who had been hired for these three concerts.
Sorry I missed it.

I believe that Terry plays with a band when on the road but I don't think he is doing so in Liverpool unless he is being backed by a local group ... and yes, he does a nice selection of Hollies material, including the odd song from the Nash era.
You can see him doing Long Cool Woman in concert in Toronto at this link.

Thanks David, enjoyed it! (though couldn`t get the video going).
I visited Liverpool a few weeks ago, and from the Beatles Week posters I observed, I'm quite sure Sylvester is teamed with Molland this time around (It would be strange, though, if there would be no kind of SBJ connection, as they are on, too).
I bought a Mike McCartney photo book, and understand the McCartney boys and Terry grew up in the same neighborhood in Liverpool, and knew each other well.
