Rose Morris Control Cavity Question

Looks like a replaced bottom guard too. I've never seen a RIC with a control cavity like that. I'm betting that it didn't come from the factory that way.

That's an interesting one. You look at all sides of the cavity and it appears to have original finish. Ditto, the cavity floor where the normal dimensions are.
However, there is none in that upper part of the cavity floor towards the neck, which could mean that is not original.
Only the far left pot appears original too.

If it's a refin, I'd be surprised. It looks original, although I do agree that the cavity looks awful thin in the paint department.
Could be a refinned MG, but my guts say no.
As Andrew says, rewired.

I doubt if its a refin but I do think that the control cavity has been touched up. Areas that should be "natural" are red.

The finish looks original IMO too, and consistant for a early '64 job in terms of the pattern. The seller lists the pots and the saddle screws as being replaced....Most of these that pop up don't look this decent. March '64, and a round heel too.

Maybe the guitar was damged somehow. That would explain the new guard and larger control cavity. Gosh, I'm good!

Well, the two sets of screw holes are a giveaway, yep. The cutaway is funky, for sure. Hmm...
