Hi guys,

A bunch of us are building a Ric inspired bass on another forum for the wife of a very nice guy who passed away earlier this year. This bass is this man's last design. We want to build it exactly as he intended it to be and give it as a gift to his widow.
He based his design on a Ric bass and we're looking for Ric dimensions to be able to go on with the build. What we need:

1. the nut width
2. width at the nut of center to center of E to G strings
3. Width at the bridge center to center of E and G
4. Saddle height

We'll be using a hipshot replacement bridge. Here is the bridge in question

Does anyone have any experience with it?

Thanks in advance for the help

if you build your own Ric bass you really shouldn't post the info here ... Rickenbacker monitors this web site and Rickenbacker enforces their trademarks on their instruments ...

Here's the design in question. As I've said it's Ric inspired, it's not a Ric copy. We just want to make sure the main neck and bridge dimensions are alike.

That's kinda cool. I don't think RIC would have a problem with it as long as it doesn't end up with a Rickenbacker truss rod cover.

I'd try to help, but I'm away from my Ricks at the moment. I can tell you that string spacing is different on different Rick models. My older 70's 4001s are substantially more narrow-spaced at the nut than my 4001V63 or 4001C64. I'm also pretty sure that my 80's 4003's spacing is narrower than my newer 4003. I prefer the narrower spacing of the 70's 4001/80's 4003 over my V63/C64, but that's what I've been playing for the last 25 years so it may not be a big deal to somebody else.

Does anyone have the saddle height?

We don't have a bridge in hand right now. We're at the designing stage and we need to know how high those saddles are to see if we need to put in a neck angle into the design or not.

We also need the string spacing at the bridge.
