Anyone know if the 381 should have the foam "skirt" between the toaster and the top of the guitar? My recently aquired 381 does not.

My 381 has the grommets, not the foam pad.

Ah, it's a "vintage" feature! Image

Steve: Vintage-style reissues come with grommets, just like the originals. Modern-style Ricks (i.e. 1970's to current) come with foam pads.

My 381 has grommets. I like the fact you can see the magnets protruding out the bottom of the pickup. Looks very cool IMO.

Yes I noticed you could see the magnets below the pickups - it does look pretty cool!
Sea Green? Yup...

So, can we see a pic of the rest of the guitar? A sea green 381 must be a sight to behold! Image

The humbuckers on the 381JK have foam beneath them. I can't upload a picture at the moment ... Peter????

Gary, do you think that is a personal request of JK's or is that a design feature of the humbucker?

Great guitar by the way! I'd never played a 381 before, but it definitely has a different vibe than a 330 or 360.

Steve, that is amazingly beautiful.... I love the checkered binding with that color--it gives it a sort of '50's vintage look. Very cool! Image

That is one beautiful guitar!

Let's see if I can post my picture now:

Aha! It worked this time.

Clive, I would speculate that a foam pad is 'standard' for humbuckers.
