I haven't been keeping up to date on the anniversary Rickenbacker model threads but I have a question. How does one go about getting a 4003 75th Anniversary bass?
Mr. Hall? Anyone?

There's alot of speculation in that department Edgar.

The fact is,, no one's sure if it even exist's yet.

Edgar,

Scott's right. Most of what we "know" is speculation, but the folks at RIC have been kind enough to give us more than a share of "hints." The problem, as you can imagine, is that these "hints" are occasionally vague and are as capable of leading us down the wrong path as the right one (Mr. Hall and his crew are both wise and tricky.) But here is my short summary of what I think many forumites have agreed on. Here goes:

There will be a total of 300 75th Anniversary guitars consisting of 4 different models, 75 each.
They will not be new or limited edition models (though some have argued that the small numbers would make it so.) Opinions regarding the exact identity of the models varies somewhat, but the general range of opinions includes a 330, 360 (6 and/or 12 string versions) 650, and 4003.
The color of the guitars is something metallic. Recent guesses have centered on red or something dark smokey grey.

BTW, the original thread is really entertaining and I would recommend taking the time to read it. What I've written here isn't really even a good Cliff Notes version.

it will probably be a 4003 in a special color ... only 75 made ... it will probably be showcased at the 75th anniversary celebration ... and it will probably be available through dealers in September 2006 ...

those are my guesses ... and my color guess is platinum ...

I just hope that I don't get screwed out of one not being able to go to the celebration.

I'll second that Ben. I'm in the UK and it would be a shame if only US members got a chance to buy one. I mean, if it wasn't for the The Beatles.... etc etc

What do we guesstimate the cost of one of these will be? More than a standard 4003?

Thanks guys and I will read the thread on it this weekend when I have time.
I agree with Ben and Bob, I don't want to miss out on this particular version.
I have the funds to get one right now so once it's announced, I'm putting my cold hard cash down on one. I just hope there isn't any increase in price.
I take it the anniversary color is the COY for 2007 or 2006 Sept. to Dec.?

Eric mentioned that there is "also a COY to look forward to" or something to that effect. So this looks to be just a 75th anniversary thing.

Let's not forget about the new thinner neck profile!!!Image

Correct...The limited color run being discussed for the 75th is not the 2007 COY...

No need to guesstimate the extra cost: + $500 list which covers not only the paint but . . . some other details.

The guitar list wasn't a bad guess either; three out of four!

So then $2139 for a 4003?
That's fair for a anniversary bass with special features.
