I am planning on making a Vintage style
gold pickguard for my Rick 320. I've read that some people on this site have done this. I was wondering what kind of Gold paint to use. I made a silver one for a Rick Copy I have, but I can't find a Gold paint other than Testors.
Any suggestions?

The gold paint that is used at Gibson is a powder that is also used in the printing business. This is mixed in with clear and sprayed .
This is also what was done at Rickenbacker.
Any rattle can paint that has gold powder in it will be reasonably close .
the company that makes it ,has about 10 different powders (size of flecks) but the material is the same stuff.
The makers of rattle can paint no doubt buy also from this company .It will look pretty close.
Testors makes at least 2 gold spray cans and if you go to an ART supply shop ,you may find more brands ...same powder.

I personally use the Testors spray gold whenever I am asked to do this type of guard. It's been fine with all my customers.

Dr:
If you wouldn't mind responding with a bit more specificity--is it the 3 oz. spray enamel #1244 Gold, or do you use one of the quarter-ounce jars and apply with an airbrush? Which color (Testor P/N) whould that be?
Merci beaucoup
