Tomorrow night one of the bands I work with (a country rock band) will be opening up for Hank Williams Jr. at a 5000 seat, sold out, outdoor amphitheater. I may just shake up the country world a bit and use a Rick. My old Hofner is generally the bass for that band, but I may not be able to resist the lure of the Rick. He he!

Pretty awesome, Tim. Hank Jr. is a country music legend, to say the least. Congrats!!!

I was thinking of the new Ruby, but the Black 4004 with Darkstars is strung with Pyramid flats and has a really full, fat tone. It's actually similar to my Hofner.

Thanks, Andrew. I'm pretty excited. Will certainly be the largest crowd I've played for!

I've never seen him before, Kaia. He should be a kick AND it is a beautiful venue so I think there is good chance of having a ball.

Like I said over at "the 'Pit", Hank covers (or used to cover in the '80s) Aerosmith. Skynyrd and ZZ Top among others. He at least 'used' to have this lefty bass player who always played a P-bass. Real good player. Nothing fancy but steady as anything. Have a great time and be sure to post pics both here and at the 'other' site too (Al's)

Will do my best on the pics, Greg. Thanks for the good wishes everyone. I'm off now - be back Friday the 11th! (going camping after the show)

HWJr and I share the same birthday and year. We were both 57 on May 26 last. Other May 26 notables are Stevie Nicks (a year older) and John Wayne (Marion Morrison).

Yeah, old fart. I was 20 at the time of the first moon landing and Woodstock. I retire in less than four weeks, and after a three week autumn car tour of Canada and New England, it's full bore on the bass book. Looking forward to the freedom, but am carefully remembering Walter Cronkite's famous quote: "I wake up in the morning with nothing to do, and by noon I'm so far behind I'll never catch up!".
