360/12c63 Straplock Question

Got my JetGlo 360/12c63 last week (what happened to the C Series threads?). Love the guitar in every respect but I wasn't expecting the strap buttons to also be vintage as well, i.e., not the ones that are compatible with the Schaller strap-lock system. The screws for the Schaller strap-lock buttons are two small to fit in the holes drilled out for the vintage strap buttons. So, of those who have a 360/12c63, what are you using for strap-locks? I don't want to do surgery on the guitar to make the Schallers work if I don't have to (i.e., filling the stock holes) but I don't want to go without strap-locks on this guitar.
Thanks.

Matthew, you can buy the Schaller type bolts from Ric themselves, or Mike Parks, or POTR etc, & just replace your vintage style bolts.

RIC part Sku: 05904 can be found here.

Thanks for the responses. The problem is, the gauge of the vintage strap button that's currently on the c63 is much larger than the gauge for a screw that will fit through the Schaller strap-lock button. I suppose I could fill the hole but was looking for other options.

Matthew, the responses from Tony and Ken refer to a genuine Rickenbacker part that is a threaded screw the same diameter size as the Rickenbacker vintage screw (a direct swap). The difference is the bit that remains outside of the body, i.e. where the strap connects to, is compatible with Schaller strap locks, as opposed to the knurled vintage one.

If you buy Schaller strap locks as a set, you will not use the part that connects to the guitar, i.e. the bit that is more like a big shaped washer for the thinner-diameter screw.

The only piece you will use from your Schaller strap buttons is the piece that connects to the strap.

When you have got the Schaller-compatible Rickenbacker strap buttons, the job is as simple as unscrewing the vintage strap buttons and screwing in the replacement Schaller-compatible ones. You will not need to drill or pack holes and the process is entirely reversible.

Hope this clarifies.

If you order the part mentioned above from RIC, it should be the same diameter and gauge thread as the thread of the vintage strap button that's on the C63.

Matthew, you may be able to drill the hole through the new strap lock button to be larger, to accomodate a larger screw. Do you have machining capabilities ? It's always better to modify the new parts, rather than modify the guitar.

Thanks -- I'll swap out the vintage part for the Ric-Schaller-compatible part. I appreciate the help.
