How much of that tone is the 4005, how much the Orange amp, and how much a possible distortion pedal? Really nice ballsy growl!

pretty good song, and I really like the tone. Classic ric neck pickup tone.

Some poeple here don't equate the 4005 as having a great Rick tone; they just haven't really heard what a 4005 is capable of. To me they are the most versatile sounding basses RIC made.

Indeed, how much tone of any recorded Ric is the amp, pedal, mixing board EQ, etc.?

WOW, great tone, almost Entwistle esq. If that's typical 4005 tone then I might just start saving up.

If it helps, anyone wanting a sound similar to that should go out and get a Marshall JMP1 guitar preamp. That's what I use for recording, and allowing for the fact my basses aren't hollow (and I play differently than Noel), I get pretty close to that sound, certainly with my old 72 4001.
That's one of my favourite Oasis tracks, probably because of the bass!

Was wondering - does Oasis have to send money to the Beatles every time they play a song??? They're about one step away from being a tribute band. Sheesh!
