Recent Dano Ltd Ed DC-12 (vs Rick 12ers? or not)

Has anyone played or owned one of these Danelectros? I mean the ones manufactured since the time Danelectro had ceased guitar production, so in the past couple years. I'm especially curious about Rick 12-string players' views on how they compare.

I had the opportunity to try one out (unplugged) at Gruhn's on a recent trip to Nashville and was mighty impressed with the feel and playability of the Dano. Very robust, seemingly well-built guit. What really got me was the neck: these newer models have a black finish on the back of the neck that feels very highly polished, smooth -- it felt really similiar to the neck on my 660/12. And rock-solid, too, almost as much as the 660.

Now, I'm not looking to replace my 660 by any means, but I'm something of a 12-string nut. So for 500 bucks including the quality gigbag the friendly salesman said he'd throw in, the Dano would have gone home with me, but for that leaving me with not enough gas money to get back to Cincinnati.

So, what do y'all think? Thanks.

Andy, I love my Danos. They stay in tune and have their own sound and happening vibe. My solo (home studio) tracks often feature my Danos next to my Rics.

Are you going to see the Church at the 20th Century Theatre next Wednesday (Aug 16)?

The main advantage to the Dano over the RIC is the wider neck...at least if you're comparing the Dano to the 330/360 style neck. They sound and play pretty nicely too.

Thanks for chiming in.

Noel, no I'm not going to the Church show. Would love to see them though. Assuming the 20th Century is in Cincinnati? I only get back there once or twice a year to visit my family and damned if the names of all the venues haven't all changed. What are they calling Riverfront Stadium now?
I will be making the trip back from Japan in a couple weeks, but not until after that show. Do you know if they're playing any other dates in that vicinity btwn 8/23-9/10? I was wanting to catch CSNY in Columbus on the 29th, but $100 a ticket kinda feels too much like a kick in the teeth. That kind of money ought to at least buy you half an hour's playing time on Neil's Hank's D-18, y'know?

I think this 12 looks nice. Reminds me of a Charvel Surfcaster.
