>>"Other brands don't have that kind of history," Jones said.<<
Yeah, what about Rickenbacker?

Yes, exactly. Granted, RIC's production is nowhere near those of Gibson and Fender.

Of course, it's balanced out by the fact that Ric predates them in the electric category, eh?

Unfortunately, the first in is not always the dominant player later on. The spreadsheet changed the landscape of computing. The concept was invented by Dan Bricklin and the first viable product on a large scale was Lotus 123. Who would know that today much less mention it in a article ahead of Microsoft Excel?

Hmmm. Bricklin? Lotus? You'd think we were talking automobiles.

If we were speaking 100% USA production, you'd be surprised where we sit.

Yes, it seems the bulk of the other two are produced outside of the US. What they make here is not always (did someone say seldom?) what it should be. Hopefully Ricks will always be made here.

I believe I read an article about ten years ago that Heritage Guitars (Kalamazoo, MI) sells more in Japan than they do here. I haven't seen too many in local dealers the past few years, including Elderly.

I live here in the 'Zoo and I've never seen a Heritage in a store here.

Of course there aren't very many stores here.... Other than the GC which doesn't count.
