My town has a Ric Dealer now and I want to get a Ric bass. I am left handed but can also play a Righty upside down. My new dealer was able to get a order in before the Dec 31 deadline and has 2 V63s on order. I have heard that they play feel and sound better than the 4003. Should I wait for a RH V63 or should I order a LH 4003.Thanks

The sound differance is the pickups and not the actual bass. The wood is really the same .

The rods are the same .I would get the bass that is left handed ,order the vintage pickups before they are all gone and then at some point you will have the best of both .

OH NO!!! IT WON'T BE STOCK!!!
So what .I don't think that there is any thing wrong with switching pickups in an instrument...as long as you don't try to turn a particular brand into something totally different.

Like say turn a 4003 into a Mosrite bass. Yum.

What is the difference between the 4001v63 vintage pickups and the standard 4003 pickups?

Check out http://www.southpawguitars.com for a LH 4001v63. They have a PMC model in stock. There are some slight differences in the 4001 as opposed to the 4003. The 4001s neck is slightly slimmer and its neck pickup is closer to the neck. I got my 4001v63 PMC from Southpaw and I am very pleased with both the bass and the service.
