The Rickenbacker Page has a NEW 4003 Jetglo available for sale with the "slimmer neck profile"!
Good news indeed!

Tony, are my eyes playing tricks or has the bump on the pickguard been smoothed out a bit?

Bob,
To be honest with you, I don't see it. Then again, I've been up all night and I'm a bit bleary eyed!
I've been comparing it to this 2006 listed on Ebay. It has a nice close up of the pickguard.

The hump is still there. Maybe new features for 2007 will include a new pickguard without the hump.

Congrats Jeffrey!
Please let us know what you think of the new neck.
That was fast, I thought I read that they weren't going to be available until the end of the year.
GOOD NEWS!

Considering all the measurements we took on the earlier models, using calipers on that new neck would be interesting.

I think it refers to the lower part of the guard just below the knobs. On some basses the guard comes very close to the binding (almost touching) on others there is a wider gap there.

Also-
There is a pronounced bump by the screw before the switch.
Not as graceful as the early guards.

I think this is what is meant by the "hump"
...but I could be wrong.

The neck on my Feb 2006 4003 is very nice. Not the slimmest, but nice and playable. I'm sure manufacturing techniques are improving, even monthly, but I'd be a little nervous to have a slimmer necked 4003.
