Looks to be a sweet bass, I don't know much about the seller though the price seems fair.

It looks like a non-original pickguard I don't see an holes for the finger rest. Very nice shape though. It will be interesting to see what it goes for, assuming reserve is met.

My 72 doesn't have a finger rest, nor holes for one. I don't think they all had them, early seventies Rics are all transition basses to me, I saw a photo once of a 72 with a horse shoe pickup in it, and the owner said he bought it brand new like that, I have that picture someplace, if I can find it I'll post it.

Bob, I agree. It's been said the 73 was the transition year but it seems that with the early 70's you never know what you'll find. That is one nice looking bass though! Too bad it doesn't have a horseshoe that would have jut sealed it!

Good point Bob, my '72 4001 happens to have the finger rest. I have also heard of '72's with the horse shoe pickup, 'never seen one though.
