Here's you go, a 72 Ric 4001, with factory routing. Never mind it's a refin and looks like satan got wild with a router.

How much BS do these ebay guys think the public will take? This borders on either fraud or the guy is just an idiot.

~shaking my head in weary contempt~ Don't even get me started................
Jeffrey-- I tend to think you may be correct on both counts.

One of my favorite lines is "The bass has 2 jacks. Only one is wired in and has a short in it. bass sounds good but..." I'm sure the bass sounds good with a shorted output jack!!!

Yeah, and I'll bet it has multiple scratches right where the serial number was.

1972 ? Where's the checkerboard binding, or the mother of pearl inlays ? Why is the headstock so short ? Rickenbacker verified the year without a serial # heh? Somebody get this poor boy a bike so he can put that butchered piece of wood back in the closet where it belongs.

That ranks as one of the most tasteless and idiotic mod done to a 4001/4003!
Total criminal act.
Get that boy a bike so he can ride to the police station and give himself in.

Havent these people ever heard of Warmoth or All Parts? Why do they always destroy the good ones?

the seller says..."Rickenbacker told me..." that must be Billy Joe Bob Rickenbacker, down at the fillin' station.

If you're gonna butcher it like that moron has, what difference does it make whether you use good quality parts or the cheap junk? In cases like this, stupidity is it's own reward. This seller and others like him either will be stuck with their radically modded abominations, or they'll foist them off on another like-minded idiot at a sizable financial loss.
Scott-- I may not have originally understood the meaning in your post. Perhaps you mean why doesn't someone like the seller just buy the raw materials and ruin the finished product rather than a nice factory instrument? That's a good point. But last I checked, no parts company has unfinished Rickenbacker bodies & necks available for funky Frankenstein projects. Therefore, it's inevitable that we'll continue to see nice Rickenbackers sacrificed like little lambs at the altar of radical/irreversible mods.

They could alway pick up a nice Ibanez or other copy and kill those instead of the real goods. Either way, they won't have a Ric later anyway.

Yuck! Positively gross!
Jeff: my sentiments exactly.
Boy, I can't wait to be back in the swing of things here!
