When I felt the neck on the factory floor, I thought it was sweet. Flat and thin. However this is obviously a very subjective thing; like Joey, I hope its what YOU like.

Can't go wrong with jetglo. Mine, however is an '04 with a thick neck. I personally like a thicker neck though.

I can report there was a number of 4003JG in finish sanding getting ready for buffing when we toured, so they should be going out in the near future. Then a whole passle of FGs will be on the way a while after that.

Quite a nice factory update there John! In fact many of those 4003 JG's went out today and we have a bevy of 4003 FG's going out tomorrow...

Man, you guys are fast!
Just kidding! I was really impressed watching the sanding and how the workers would feel the finish to make sure all was just right.
You may use CNC to rough out the initial cuts of the wood, but all the rest and all the quality is due to the skills and care of the workers. It is all sight and feel to get it where it needs to be. Like the worker fitting necks on the 330s we saw. Just enought sanding to make it tightly slide in, and no more.
Kudos on a great company!
Forgot to add you need to downsize your finished product warehousing area!!

P.S. - for those not on the tour, there is no finished product warehousing area. Just a shipping staging area as they ship everything boxed to go daily.

Well The bass arrived yesterday . I set it up last night and im proud to report that there is a significant change in the neck profile . Its is alot thinner !! Starts out at the F position like the middle of last years 4003 neck and gets alot thinner from then on . I dont have calipers so i cant get technical with it but..... It has the feel of both 80's 4003 and early 70's 4001 . slightly flat in the back around the A position. I have to recut the nut slots the strings are at uneven heights off the first fret .The pickups dont seem to be quit as ballsy as my last one wich is GOOD ! Overall nice work Rickenbacker . You keep this up and i may have to get a few more of them .

Glad to hear it Jeff.
If you like the new neck, they must have changed to a thinner profile.

I second that. Can't go wrong with jetglo. Mine, however is an '67 with a really thin neck.
