I'd say that guy Blunt makes me nervous! He's fun to watch visually, but I'd say a high number of his beats are questionable or don't make sense. Searchers lost an attraction when Tony left, but found a fair replacement in Frank. The leaving of Chris Curtis was a much bigger loss, and it's strange they didn't put more effort into finding a more suitable replacement.

One more: Searchers going wild.

Well, the band name is corrected now - fast! But "i wanna know, yeah i wanna know": a) how do they manage to go wild in those suits & ties (isn't it too hot?); b) how do they manage to play their guitars holding them so high - a bit higher and the guitar will hit the chin?.. Great clip, anyway.
Glad i've managed to find something you liked, Einar. I'm still keeping the envelope from "Hungry hearts" CD, BTW... talk about getting old and sentimental.
Speaking of John Blunt - i've heard (read) some people say he was probably the best (most skilled) drummer they've ever had...

I wonder if Chris had had himself "a few" (of something) before he went on stage? I think this is great showmanship, quite Lennonesque, maybe slightly over the top, and a superb LIVE clip (compared to the all too many rather uninteresting miming). It seems McNally and Jackson are quite "game" and joins in with some enthusiasm, while Pender looks slightly embarrassed. The crowd seems quite supportive. I know I have seen footage of the Searchers doing What'd I say before, but am not sure if this is another occation? But again, GREAT stuff!
On Blunt, I don't agree about his skills. Too loud a drummer for the Searchers, anyway. Cheers!

Thanks for the reminder, Roy. As you tell, Chris had some trouble when they were to pick up their award. -So maybe he had had one too many?! Do you know of any other footage of them doing What'd I say? I slightly remember another camera angle, clearly showing that Chris was standing upright when singing/playing. I don't notice this as obviously on this clip. But isn't this a rather sensationally "wild" performance? I've not seen The Beatles doing anything as outragous as this. Not even the Stones! Do you have any further comments on this specific delivery?

As I recall, the Searchers closed their only "Ed Sullivan Show" [They were on at the beginning an very end of the show], with a VERY wild version of "Ain't That Just Like Me". They jumped up in the air when they did the guitar break, and yelled, and Chris was flipping his hair and head side to side at mach 2, and screaming during "Just a little louder" .Ed didn't look particularly amused.

Ed NEVER looked particularly amused...
