On Saturday September 9, my band will be playing live at the Long & McQuade store in Markham. We go on around noon. Rumour has it there will be hot dogs & pop available and some sort of sale will be going on at the store. This is the 'Grand Opening' celebration, despite the fact that the store has been open since May. Headlining act is Kim Mitchell. L&M is an authorized Ric dealer, btw.
Of course, if you want to pay & have a beer, we are playing at Clinton's Tavern in Toronto the night before.

Kim Mitchell btw is on my list of favorite Canadian Rockers. If you are able can you post some pics?
I trust that you'll have a great time.

Peter, I don't administer the site, so I can only imagine that there is a server issue. It was working this morning.

OK, so I have a dilemma on my hands. For the music store gig tomorrow, I have been told the only thing I need to bring is my guitar & effects as amps will be supplied. Should I ask for a JC-120 (I use a JC-55, so I know the sound), a Fender (my rehearsal space uses Peavey copies of Fender amps) or an AC30, which I have been drooling over but have never played through. Also note that our rhythm guitarist will not be there, so I won't be playing quite as much lead. I'm thinking the answer is obvious.
Will I end up regretting playing through a Vox because I can't afford one right now?

I'd go with an amp you're more familiar with - either the JC-120, or the Fender. I, myself, would not want to go gigging with an amp I don't know.

IMHO, JC120.

Ask for a Marshall 100w valve, with 2 4x12's!
You'll have one hell of a time...

I've been in that store, in fact I was in there today, and haven't seen any Vox amps there.......
Hope to catch your band tomorrow.

Sorry, I forgot my camera. I'm not a big fan of his music, but Kim sure can play the guitar. They already had the stage set up when I got there with a couple of Traynor amps. I didn't bother asking for anything else, I'm happy just getting a nice clean tone. My multi-effects does the rest. I was going to test an AC15 with my own guitar afterwards, but the place was brimming with teenage shredders blasting Marshalls.
Thanks to Phil for coming out.

Hey Greg - I enjoyed your show - very much! Your bank was a blast - tight - good tunes and arrangements. Heard a couple of killer lead solos there too on a Rickenbacker but don't know who the guitar player was.
