Does anyone use their 4003's mute??

If so, dumb question coming. How the heck do you adjust the foam up to the strings? I crank those screws and nothing happens.

It may be that the screws are not into the threaded metal the foam sits on. Or you just aren't turning them far enough - I would think this as the thumbscrews would be loose and fall out if not threaded into the metal.

it is stuck ... you need to take apart the whole assembly ... the bottom of the pad has adhesive ... the pad is wider than the metal plate that it is glued to ... so the pad gets struck to the wood and becomes unmovable ... most people never notice ...

if you want to use the mute then take it apart and unstick it and then trim it ... the mute pad is about 13/16" wide ... trim it about 1/8" and it will go up and down easily ...

Ya, I use my mute constantly...to plug the hole that'd be there if I took it out. I even chrome plated the mute bar just for appearance.
