A special thank you

Hey everybody. I spent the first few days back home wondering how to thank people and express my appreciation for the whole weekend. Meeting all of you was truly amazing.

I figured the best way to do this and provide a nice little memory would be with music, so I got out my very best pencil and came up with a little ditty, assisted by the talented Alisha Tremaine on bass.

I am also proud to announce this as the first installment of the "virtual band." Darren Trott and I discussed this concept in LA. The idea is to have people all over the world in one band without having to be in the same room. So what you're hearing is yours truly on drum machine, 450/12 and voice, and Alisha on bass. I forget which model she played, but it's not a 4003.

This song is called "Bottles" and on behalf of the 'kids' from the confluence, myself, Alisha, and John Biscuti (who will be joining us on future efforts very soon), we dedicate this to all our new friends from outside the US. Aitch, Graham, Darren, Bjorn, forgive me if I forgot anyone. It was great to meet you, hang out, and enjoy a little 'cultural exchange.' This song is based on one of those. Oh, and when Darren gets back home we will have our drummer! A fully virtual band. Enjoy!

That was cool, Jason!
How do the rest of us get in on it?

Thanks, guys.

Joey, I see us doing a whole CD in this fashion, so stay tuned. There should be plenty of opportunity for all interested parties, so start writing now! After the Forum CD is distributed I think we can get going. I don't want to steal any thunder from that project.

John K, as soon as they run a fiber optic cable undersea from Australia to the US and the UK, etc etc., we can coordinate 'live' virtual performances and you can book our online gigs! Unfortunately, current satellite technology simply has too much delay to make it work, I think.

I "hear" a high bass part, very fast moving, descending, especially in the chorus! Maybe a 4005, Jeffrey?

The original plan was for Jason, Alisha, and myself to play on it. But after messing around with the song for the last 2 days, I just could not find a place for any more guitars in the song! Jason's rhythm guitar and vocal work was all that was needed.

J, thanks for trying to include me, and the song rocks! Also, great bass playing Alisha!

Do I detect Alisha on background vocals? You "KIDS" rock and this Texan thanks you.

I played a 3001 for the bass part, and was going to add some "background" vocals at the end but ran out of time Image I echo Jason's words and add a thanks to all of you. Image

That was fun. Good to hear your voice again, Jason and nice bass work Alisha.

And to think that I was actually there to participate in the game! It was very cool, but I paid for it dearly the next day. The ride out to the Sawdust Festival almost dislodged my cookies!

The virtual band is a neat idea. I've thought about doing something similar with an old singer friend of mine that now lives 1500 miles away.

Maybe if I get a little better with this darned computer I'll help out on a future effort.

That cracked me up John & Alisha Image Great to have a soundtrack of that weekend! The smile on my face lasted for 36 seconds past the end of the song! A sure sign of a winner Image Thanks for taking the time to produce it.

Our pleasure, Graham.

Anyone interested in "getting in on this" please see the "Virtual Band" thread I'm going to post in the Recording Topic. Cheers, J
