If anyone is interested, this one came out of it's case only hours ago, http://www.guitargallery.tv/guitars/guitarlist.html
at Guitar Gallery near Pittsburgh, PA. This store usually has VERY good pricing and are complete pros. I just acquired a blueburst and a V63 or I would have grabbed it myself.

Nice looking bass Jim, and welcome.

I've never been to the Guitar Gallery. Maybe someday.

Let's see a picture of your V63.

Mine's a 98, one of the last. Now to somehow snag the elusive CS. It may be a long wait...

That is one mighty fine bass, there's a great simplistic beauty to it. I'd like to see it without the colour enhanced.

Is it true that the late nineties V63's where more chunky both in body and neck profile?

Alan,

That's my understanding, but only through posts on here. My two V63's are a '92 & '93. I haven't played a late '90's.
Both of mine are very comfy to my small hands, but the '92 is the smallest. Great neck!

That's a nice pair Kevin. Tonally you're pretty much covered with those two.

The announcement of the slimmer neck profile has made me reconsider buying a new 4003, but it won't avert my desire for a mapleglo 4001V63. Every time I see one I am bewildered as to why the C64 is not available with a non-reversed headstock.

I know, I know, that particular horse has been beaten long enough.

Being a 1999, It was made at the end of the 4001v63 run - I don't feel the neck is too fat at all - especially when compared to my 1978 P bass.

Looks like it has some cool grain on the upper horn too.

I'm a sucker for nice maple!

Being a guitarist with smaller hands, I find the '98 V63 quite easy to handle, slimmer than my 2006 4003. Never played an earlier V but have heard that the necks are ever thinner.

Tony - that '99 is a sharp one as well, nice grain. What's your string preference?
