Well, after the long wait (almost three months), I have my 380L PZ. Let me tell you that pictures do not do it justice! It is even more beautiful in person. However, to the dismay of another enthusiast, I also received a certain Burgundy 4003 bass. I guess it shared the same tracking #. So, if Jen Shiladay is out there in cyber land waiting for her (his?) bass, I got it and have e-mailed Mike Parks with the details and a solution for this unfortunate problem. Hopefully, if all goes well, you will have your bass tommarrow via same day air (UPS). Anyway, I haven't had a chance to play my 380 yet, kind of scared to touch it, it's so nice. Will post with some results after I've gathered the nerve...

Congratulations on your 380L PZ. This is definitely a Rickenbacker I think many of us have never seen or played, but are all in love with.

Thanks Corey! I got the nerve up to finally plug it in and...in a word...PENETRATING!! I never new an electric guitar could have the kind of sound this one has. It just goes right through you. The sound is full even at low volumes. I have it plugged into my Cybertwin set on twin reverb Black (face) Pre-distortion and stereo tape echo and it sounds just awsome!! Thanks Rickenbacker and John Hall for a glorious instrument!

I can't tell you how I like the bass as it would be disrepectful to the person who actually owns it. I know that I would like to be the one who first sees and plays it for the first time if I had bought it new. Well, I did take a peak at it since it was the first box I opened. I was taken back a little in the first place by getting two boxes anyway. At any rate it's not mine and will leave it in the box as I would hope anybody would out of respect to the person who bought and owns it! It is tempting though. It really is a nice looking bass!

My cousin Dave Wiggins has a 380L PLZ. I can't say that the acoustic settings were anything special, but that might have been because of the amp he was using at the time. He did have some problems with a pick up and had to send it back for repair. I played it. I like the feel of the oiled finish, and the look of the gold hardware.
