Geoff Hogarth has kindly agreed to act as moderator for The Iron Door Club Forum. The Iron Door Club gave many Liverpool and other artists a break in the early 1960s but ironically much less is known about this Club than the Cavern. Hopefully this Forum will remedy that. Please join me in welcoming Geoff to the RickResource Forum.

There are other folks here from Yorkshire too, that have more than a passing interest in the music that originated in Liverpool in the 1960s.

I thank you all for the very warm welcome to the Iron Door Club Forum from both Clem & myself.
It is reassuring to know that the site is being read,I understand that Brian Jessy James who was the Manager at the Iron Door until he went to The Tower Ballroom New Brighton to take up a simular position, will be joining us on the Forum.
Both Clem & Jess were very friendly with all the
Beat Groups around in the 60s,Jess went to Dovedale school with John Lennon, they remained friendly during the early Beatles period in Liverpool.
All three of us are willing to attempt to answer any questions on the Liverpool Beat scene in Liverpool in the 60s.
A good question for Clem (Bilco) What is behind the story that the Beatles owed you £3.

This was a subject brought up on another Forum by a former girl friend of mine, Glen Swan. She distinctly remembers a conversation, rather heated, that I was having with The Beatles regarding a debt of £3 and recalls Paul literally emptying his pockets saying "Honestly, we're broke." It could very well be that I had subbed them in advance for a booking at The Door.

Clem: Thanks for this interesting bit. You better collect from Paul while you can. Is there any chance that Glen Swan could contribute some of her thoughts on the Iron Door days as well?

Glen Swan's interesting article referred to by Clem in his posting can be read here.
