83 4001S sound ?

Would an 83 4001S sound like a mid 70s uncapped 4001 ?
My '81 4001S has the cap in it. I'm sure an '83 has it also, so I don't think it would sound like an uncapped 4001...unless the cap mod was done.
My '81 4001S doesn't really sound too much different than my '79 4001.
