Mark, or anyone who has experience... Is there a better way to wire these things than the way I have done it? I have my bridge pickup wired with a series/parallel switch as shown on the 2nd page here:

The neck pickup is a two-wire pickup.

Each pickup on its own sounds great. Punchy, clear, throaty and defined. But when both volumes are at max with the selector in the center position, the volume drops a bit and the sound loses much of it's high end. If i back off on the volume of either pickup a tad, the sound brightens up and "comes alive". Are the pickups maybe out of phase? Or is this phenomenon due to a possible impedance mismatch between the two pickups? I'm stumped...

sounds like you may be out of phase electronically .

Take one of the pickups and reverse the hot and the ground .

I don't recall if the ground on a Bartolini is constant or if the beginning of the coil(S) and the end of the coil(s) are both available to switch .Knowing Bill though I would hazard a guess and say that on the bottom of the pickup you have at least 3 terminals to solder to.

Do you have the paper that came with the pickup ?If not go to their website and see if that info is there.

If you had an impedance miss match you would be using a battery with one pickup ...I bet you are not .That makes this a phasing problem.

If you had an ohm meter it would be the way to check this out .
